Caroline V. Comerford, PhD, Criminologist

Founder & Owner

Dr. Caroline V. Comerford is the Founder and Owner of CVC Research & Consulting, LLC and a criminologist specializing in Violent Serial Crime Cases, specifically Serial Homicide, Serial Rape, Home Invasion Serial Killers, and Residential Sex Offenders. Her other areas of expertise include: Geographic Profiling, Environmental Criminology, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), Problem-Oriented Policing (POP), Situational Crime Prevention (SCP), & Crime Pattern Analysis (CPA). She has published papers in the following journals: Homicide StudiesVictims & OffendersCrime, Law, & Social ChangePsychology, Crime & LawInternational Journal of Comparative & Applied Criminal Justice, and International Criminal Justice Review. She has presented numerous papers on serial homicide & criminology-related topics at the American Society of Criminology and Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences annual meetings. She has trained law enforcement regarding the offending and hunting patterns of violent serial criminals at conferences & seminars. Additionally, she has interviewed violent serial offenders & has consulted with law enforcement on violent crime cases. She is an active member in the following organizations: Homicide Research Working Group (HRWG), American Society of Criminology (ASC), Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), Atypical Homicide Research Group (AHRG), & the New Jersey Homicide Investigators Association (NJHIA). Caroline holds a Ph.D. in International Crime and Justice from Florida International University, an M.A. in Criminal Justice specializing in Criminology and Deviance from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a B.A. in Justice Studies from Montclair State University.
